The object of the game is to determine how many more dots are needed to make ten. The player with the most points after playing five rounds wins. This is a game for two players.

Materials

Directions

  1. Cut along the dotted lines to make 0–10 Small Ten Frame Cards.
  2. Shuffle and mix the order of the cards.
  3. Player 1 selects a Ten Frame Card to flash to Player 2 for five seconds.
  4. Player 1 removes the card.
  5. Player 2 determines how many more dots are needed to make ten.
  6. Player 1 shows the card again to see if Player 2 was correct.
  7. Player 2 then says the number sentence. Example: If there are 2 dots showing, Player 2 would say “8” and “2 + 8 = 10.”
  8. If players say the correct number and number sentence, they earn the number of dots, as points, on the card that was flashed to them. Example: If there are 3 dots showing and the player says “7” and “7 + 3 + 10” then the player earns 3 points.
  9. Play continues for a total of 5 turns, recording the scores.
  10. Players then switch roles. Player 2 flashes a Ten Frame Card to Player 1. Player 1 says the number and equation for 5 turns, recording the scores.
  11. The winner is the player with the most points after playing 5 rounds.
