Nine, Ten

This is a game for two players. The object of the game is to be the first person to fill in one of the columns on his or her game board.

Materials

  • Spinners 11–18 and 9–10 below
  • 2 clear plastic spinners or 2 pencils with paper clips
  • Nine, Ten Game Boards in the Student Activity Book for each player

Directions

  1. Player 1 spins both spinners. On the first spinner, you will spin a number from 11 to 18. On the second spinner, you will spin either a 9 or a 10.
  2. Say a subtraction sentence with the two numbers you spin.
  3. If your partner agrees that your answer is correct, write the number sentence in the game board column where it belongs. If your answer is not correct, do not write anything on the game board.
  4. Players take turns repeating steps 1–3. The first player to fill in one of the columns on his or her game board is the winner.
