Display the tan rhombus and the blue rhombus from a set of
pattern blocks for students to compare. Ask students to focus on
the properties of the shape rather than the color. Post student
responses on chart paper as in Compare Properties of Shapes in
Lesson 2.
Answers will vary. Possible responses include:
The tan rhombus has 4 sides and 4 corners. Both the tan
and blue rhombuses have two corners that are small and two
corners that are big. All sides are the same length.
They each have 4 sides of equal length. They each have 4
corners.
The corners are different. For example, the large corners
on the tan rhombus are larger than the large corners of the blue
rhombus.
