Have 20 connecting cubes readily available. Responses will vary. Some possible resposes are given for Q# 2–5.

1. For the remainder of the questions 18 will be used as the date.
2. 18 real houses is big; 18 ships is big.
3. 18 pieces of pasta is small; 18 grains of rice is small; 18 people at a movie is a small number.
4. 18 people in a bath tub is a lot of people; 18 pairs of shoes is a lot of shoes.
5. Let students decide when a number sentence is different from others listed. 6 + 6 + 6 = 18; 1 + 14 + 3 = 18
