Some possible explanations:

  1. 0.5 is the same as 1/2. One-half of 7.32 would be close to 31/2, so the answer will be greater than 1.
  2. One half (or 0.50) of 2.36 is approximately 1. 4/100 is much smaller than 0.50, so the answer will be less than 1.
  3. The answer should be close to 0 since 0.001 × 180 = 0.180.
