What Is My Pattern
The object of the game is extend the pattern correctly. The player with the most points after three rounds of the game wins. This is a game for two players.
Materials
- What Is My Pattern Game page from the Student Activity Book (2 or more copies)
Directions
- Player 1 selects a pattern and does not share it with Player 2.
- Player 1 shows four hops and circles four numbers on the first number line to show a growing pattern (e.g., 6, 8, 10, 12).
- Player 2 is asked to extend the pattern by circling four more numbers on the
number line. - Player 2 should then record the pattern in the boxes below the number line.
- If Player 2 records the pattern correctly, he or she receives a point.
- Players switch roles, with Player 2 selecting the pattern and Player 1 extending and guessing the pattern.
- If Player 1 is correct, he or she receives a point.
- The player with the most points at the end of three rounds wins.
