LESSON 12 Fraction Puzzles

"Today in math, you will work in groups of four to solve puzzles using circle pieces," said Mrs. Dewey. "Each puzzle has four clues to help you find a solution. Each group member will receive one of the clues. A clue can be shared with your group only by reading it. Once all the clues have been read, the group's job is to find a solution that meets all the guidelines given in the clues."

Roberto, Nicholas, Linda, and Jackie formed a group. Each received a clue for the first puzzle. "My clue says we need to use 2 or 3 pieces," said Nicholas as he reached to get some pieces.

"Wait," said Linda, "I think we should each read our clues to the group before we start building. That way we will have all of the information we need to start."

"Great idea! Go ahead and read your clue again, Nicholas, and then we will each read ours," said Jackie.
