“That's right,” said Mr. Moreno. “One way to solve multiplication problems is to break them into smaller problems that are easier to solve. Does anyone use that kind of method to multiply?”

“I do that with rectangles,” said Michael. He showed how he solved the problem by drawing a rectangle on grid paper and then breaking each number into tens and ones.

Roberto said, “I used the same method as Michael, but I just drew a quick sketch without grid paper.”
