Journey to Flatopia

The story Journey to Flatopia is a story about a flat land. It is a place where everything and everybody is made of flat shapes like those you are studying in geometry.

Dimensions

Objects in the real world, such as Professor Peabody, you, cubes, books, and houses, are three-dimensional (3-D) objects. Shapes and pictures you draw on a piece of paper, such as squares, hexagons, and circles, are all two-dimensional (2-D) objects. Lines are one-dimensional (1-D) objects. Many people believe the fourth dimension is time.

In this story, Professor Peabody is working on a machine for traveling through time. His son accidentally pushes the 2-D button and Professor Peabody travels to a two-dimensional world.
