Geometry in Quilts

Quilts are a part of our American heritage. Quilts are used as blankets, but many quilts are also works of art. Why talk about quilts in a math class? As you can see in the picture, quilts often include many interesting geometric shapes and patterns. What patterns do you see in the quilt called Jacob's Ladder? Notice how you can find the same pattern at different places in the design.
