LESSON 2 Getting to Know Room 204 a Little Better

Frank continued to explain. “Well, I am 57 inches tall. I have 3 brothers and 1 sister. I live 5 blocks away from school. I have moved 4 times. I have 2 pets.” Maya said, “I am 51 inches tall. I have 1 brother and no sisters. I live 4 blocks from school. I've only moved once. I have 1 pet.”

In Lesson 1, Room 204 discussed what they would like to know about their pen pals. They listed categorical variables such as interests, favorite food, and eye color.

In this lesson, Frank discusses numerical variables: height, number of brothers, number of sisters, number of blocks from school, number of times moved, and number of pets. The values for these variables varies (or changes) from Frank to Maya.

Numerical variables have values that are numbers while categorical variables do not.
