nearest tenth

This phrase refers to the act of measuring or rounding to the nearest tenth of a unit. For example, a distance of 7.2 centimeters is measured to the nearest tenth of centimeter. To round 7.17 centimeters to the nearest tenth is 7.2 centimeters.
