Students identify, analyze, and describe shapes in their environment. They describe and compare and contrast shapes using properties of two-dimensional shapes. Students then use those properties to compose and decompose hexagons and irregular shapes.
| EXPECTATIONS | |
|---|---|
| Use this list of expectations to assess students on the key concepts and skills in this unit. | |
| E1* | Identify and name two-dimensional shapes. |
| E2* | Describe the properties of two-dimensional shapes (e.g., number of sides, length of sides, number of corners). |
| E3 | Compare and contrast two-dimensional shapes using their properties (e.g., number of sides, length of sides, number of corners). |
| E4 | Compose and decompose two-dimensional shapes using pattern blocks. |
| E5 | Justify visual and spatial reasoning by identifying the properties of shapes. |
