UNIT OVERVIEW

Students identify, analyze, and describe shapes in their environment. They describe and compare and contrast shapes using properties of two-dimensional shapes. Students then use those properties to compose and decompose hexagons and irregular shapes.

EXPECTATIONS
Use this list of expectations to assess students on the key concepts and skills in this unit.
E1* Identify and name two-dimensional shapes.
E2* Describe the properties of two-dimensional shapes (e.g., number of sides, length of sides, number of corners).
E3 Compare and contrast two-dimensional shapes using their properties (e.g., number of sides, length of sides, number of corners).
E4 Compose and decompose two-dimensional shapes using pattern blocks.
E5 Justify visual and spatial reasoning by identifying the properties of shapes.
* Denotes Benchmark Expectation
