• Assign the Animal Addition Stories Homework Master after Part 1 of the lesson. Encourage students to use numbers that are comfortable and familiar.
• Assign Home Practice Parts 1–2 after Part 2 of the lesson. In Home Practice Part 1, students draw pictures to illustrate even and odd quantities.
• Assign DPP items C–F. In item C, students use connecting cubes to decide if a number is even or odd.

Math Facts. In items D–F, students practice solving addition problems using counting-on and counting-back strategies using ten frames and connecting cubes. In Home Practice Part 2, students write addition stories and number sentences.
