Spinning Sums
Est. Class Sessions: 2–3Homework and Practice
- Ask students to describe the Spinning Sums Lab and what they noticed to a family member.
- Assign Parts 1 and 2 of the Home Practice. Both parts build number sense and mental math skills for addition and subtraction.
- Assign DPP items I–L. In Bit I, students skip count to 100 by 5s and 10s using a calculator, recording the time it takes for each. Task J asks students to use the number line to solve problems that build number sense. Bit K is an estimation problem.
Math Facts. Task L builds mental math skills with three-addend addition.
