TIMS Bit

Distribute copies of Subtraction Flash Cards: Groups 5 and 6. After students sort, they should update their Subtraction Facts I Know charts (from Unit 2 Lesson 8). Have students take the cards for Groups 5 and 6 home to practice with their families.

See the Letter Home for more information on math fact practice at home.

Ongoing Assessment

Use DPP Bit C and students' Facts I Know charts to assess students' progress with using math fact strategies including counting strategies and thinking addition to solve subtraction facts in Groups 5 and 6 [E7].

See the Letter Home for descriptions of targeted practice.

C. Subtraction Flash Cards: Groups 5 and 6

  1. With a partner, sort the flash cards into three stacks: Facts I Know Quickly, Facts I Can Figure Out, and Facts I Need to Learn.
  2. Update your Subtraction Facts I Know chart. Circle the facts you answered quickly. Underline those you were able to figure out. Do nothing to those you still need to learn.
