Daily Practice and Problems

Teacher Notes
X
  1. Ask the boys to line up in pairs to see if there is one left over.
  2. Give students 30–60 seconds to reflect. Then ask someone to explain their thinking. Have one student come to the front of the room with one pair of shoes (making an even number of shoes), then add another student (still with a pair and an even number of shoes). Continue until someone recognizes that the total number of shoes (assuming everyone has two) will be even.

G. More Even or Odd?

  1. Is the number of boys in class odd or even? Explain how you decided.
  2. Is the number of shoes in class odd or even? Explain how you decided.
