Lesson 5

The Digital Clock

Est. Class Sessions: 2

Summarizing the Lesson

Play Time Match. Provide each student with one of the five possible Time Match boards and 16 game markers. Tell students that they are going to use their board and markers to play a Time Match game. Explain that you will display a card that will show a time on either a digital or analog clock. They will then check their game board to see if they also have a clock showing the same time. Make sure students understand that they are matching the time that is displayed, not the type of clock. For example, if the display shows an analog clock set at 2 o’clock, a student can cover either an analog clock set at 2 o’clock or a digital clock showing 2:00. The first students to get four markers in a row (up and down, across, or diagonal) win the round. Continue to play as time allows.

To provide additional practice telling time, this game can be played with small groups of students as a center activity. Each student will need a game board. Place the cards face down in the center of the group. Allow students to take turns turning over the cards at the start of each turn.
