- Assign the Find a Pet Rock Homework Master to students after the first class session so that students will have time to bring in a rock with a mass of about 50 grams for the Summarizing the Lesson activity.
- Assign the Find the Total Mass Homework Masters to provide practice solving addition problems with multiple addends.
- Assign DPP items I–N. In item J, students practice finding the value of the coins in the Hundreds of Coins jars from Unit 1 Lesson 1. In item L, students practice finding the value of a set of coins. In item K, students solve problems that involve the addition facts. In item M, students solve problems involving elapsed time. In item N, students solve a multidigit addition problem two ways.
- Assign Home Practice Parts 5–6. In Part 5, students solve problems and make comparisons. In Part 6, students show the partitions of numbers using base-ten pieces.
Math Facts. In DPP item I, students practice finding and solving fact families for the addition facts in Group F.
