TIMS Challenge
Encourage students to make a plan for finding a reasonable estimate. They may need to count the number of books in several desks or the number of books on a shelf, but they should not need to count them all. Compare students' strategies for estimating the number of books in the room. Is one more accurate than another? Is one more efficient than another?
Compare the estimates. Is there only one correct answer? If there is not one right answer, can an answer be wrong?
