Part 3: Graph the Data
Remind students that another way to look at data is to graph the data. The graph of the data often tells a story. Direct student's attention to the Pets Bar Graph you prepared and to the same graph from their Student Activity Book. Discuss what labels should be written on the lines for each axis and at the bottom of each of the columns for the types of pets. As you work on the large display of the graph you prepared, have students label their individual graphs.
Once students label their individual graphs, have them attach their self-adhesive notes to the large graph displayed. Be sure they place their self-adhesive notes in the correct columns. Compare the data recorded in the table to the data recorded in the graph to check for consistency. Students can then use the data in the large graph or data table to complete their individual graphs.
