Workshop: Multiplication and Division Stories

Review student work and progress from previous lessons to guide instructional decisions about the following Expectations:

E2.

Represent multiplication and division problems in stories, drawings, and number sentences.

E3.

Multiply and divide using mental math strategies (e.g., reasoning, repeated addition).

E4.

Solve two-step word problems involving multiplication and division.

E5.

Represent solution strategies for problems involving the multiplication facts using number sentences and drawings.

In this lesson, students will evaluate their own progress on these expectations and then focus on further developing these expectations while solving multiplication and division problems. Review the Multiplication and Division Stories Workshop Menu in the Student Activity Book. See Figure 1.
