- Assign the Draw a Shape
Homework Master to give students more experience working with
area. Have each student draw the simple shape in advance, to make sure the shapes are large
enough to fit coins inside. Discuss students’ results on the following day. Ask them if the
number of coins necessary to cover the area varies with the size of the coins.
- Assign DPP items A–B. In item B, students practice measuring and then comparing lengths.
Math Facts. DPP item A provides practice with the addition facts with sums to ten in Group D.
