Distribute copies of the Subtraction Flash Cards: Group 3. After students sort the cards, they should update the Subtraction Facts I Know chart (from Lesson 2). Students can take the cards for Group 3 home to practice with their families.

Ongoing Assessment

Use DPP Bit E to assess students' progress toward using mental math strategies including making tens to solve the subtraction facts in Group 3 [E6].

E. Subtraction Flash Cards: Group 3

  1. With a partner, sort the flash cards into three stacks: Facts I Know Quickly, Facts I Can Figure Out, and Facts I Need to Learn.
  2. Update your Subtraction Facts I Know chart. Circle the facts that you answered quickly. Underline those you could figure out. Do nothing to those you still need to learn.
