Homework and Practice

  • Assign DPP items I–P. Bit I provides practice with finding the median of a data set and making a bar graph. In Task J, students solve problems involving multiplication. Task N provides practice with finding the median and making a bar graph on a grid. In Task P, students use a number line to solve a multidigit addition problem.
  • Assign Home Practice Parts 2–4. Part 3 explores place value and the Fewest Pieces Rule. In Part 4, students measure and compare the area of irregular shapes.

Math Facts. Bits K, M, and O provide practice with the subtraction facts in Groups 7 and 8. In Task L students write a story and draw a picture for 8 × 8.

Home Practice Part 2 provides practice with the subtraction facts in Groups 7 and 8.

Students take home Subtraction Flash Cards: Group 8 and the list of facts they need to study and practice with a family member.

Home Practice Part 4 can be used to assess students' abilities to recognize that different shapes can have the same area [E1] and find the area of shapes with straight or curved sides by counting square units [E3].
