Developing the Lesson

Part 3: Not More Than 100 Game

Assign groups of two or more students to play the Not More Than 100 Game in the Student Activity Book. Introduce the game by showing a display of the Not More Than 100 Game pages. Review the directions with the class, and demonstrate how to play the game with a student volunteer. Distribute 100 connecting cubes, in groups of tens and ones, to each player. See TIMS Tip and Meeting Individual Needs. Students may choose tools such as the 200 Chart to help them total their points.

When playing the Not More Than 100 Game, each player will need 100 connecting cubes to play. If you do not have enough connecting cubes in your classroom, have pairs of students play as one player.
