TIMS Bit
The quiz will allow you to identify students who need extra practice with the subtraction facts that can be solved by using the strategy using doubles or other strategies, such as making tens. The addition doubles, e.g., 8 + 8 = 16, can be used to learn the subtraction “half-doubles” as well: 16 − 8 = 8. The doubles can then be used to figure out related facts, such as 15 − 8 = 7.
We recommend 1 minute for this test. Allow students to change pens after the time is up and complete the remaining problems in a different color.
