This diagnostic quiz will allow you to identify students who need extra practice with the subtraction facts that can be solved by using the strategy using tens. Since 14 − 9 will be one more than 14 − 10, students may reason that the answer will be 5, or 4 + 1.
We recommend 1 minute for this test. Allow students to change pens after the time is up and complete the remaining problems in a different color.
