Display the Even and Odd Chart from Unit 4 Lesson 1.
Cut several 12-inch by 18-inch pieces of construction paper in half for Lesson 2.
Purchase small paper plates and a box of multicolored cereal.
Collect pennies and nickels. Each student pair will need a bag of 30–50 pennies and 8–10 nickels in Lesson 2.
Make copies of the Color Strips Master in Lesson 5 and cut apart the strips.
Display the class number line (0–130) where students can see and reach it with a pointer.
Attach a desk number line (0–40) to each student’s desk to use throughout the year.
Display the Math Practices page where all students can see it.
Have the following tools readily available for the Daily Practice and Problems items in this unit:
