Lesson 4

Mass vs. Volume: Proportions and Density

Est. Class Sessions: 4–5

Homework and Practice

  • Assign the Homework section in the Student Guide. Students use proportional reasoning, graphs, and data tables to find the mass, volume, and density for a variety of objects.
  • Assign DPP items O–V. In Bit O, students plot, describe, and classify a polygon. In Tasks P and T, students practice applying the order of operations. In Bit Q, students solve practice computation problems. In Task R, students solve problems involving decimals and fractions. Students solve a volume problem in Bit S. In Bit U, students order decimals, and in Task V students find the prime factors of numbers.
  • Assign Home Practice Part 5. Students practice computation strategies.
