Earning Money

Est. Class Sessions: 2

Summarizing the Lesson

After reviewing some student work samples together, ask students to remove the Earning Money Problem Feedback Box pages from the Student Activity Book. Tell students that they will work with a partner and will review each other's work using the Student-to-Student section of the Earning Money Problem Feedback Box. Encourage students to talk about their solutions with their partners before they provide any written feedback using the Feedback Box. Provide an opportunity for students to revise their work after meeting with their partner.

Ask students to attach the Earning Money Problem Feedback Box pages from the Student Activity Book to their written solution. Use it to provide feedback to each student using the Teacher-to-Student section.

Use the Earning Money Problem Assessment Master with Feedback Box to assess students' abilities to represent multidigit division problems using counters, drawings, and number sentences [E1]; interpret remainders [E6]; and solve multistep word problems involving the four operations [E8].

Use students' written solutions to assess their Math Practices and communication skills [MPE1–6]. Provide peer and teacher feedback using the Earning Money Problem Feedback Box pages from the Student Activity Book.
