Could Be or Crazy

Display the list of items to measure that you prepared prior to the lesson. See Materials Preparation. Assign student pairs two items to measure in links and in inches.

Display and direct students to the Measuring with Links and Inches page in the Student Activity Book. Students will use their 10-link chains and 10-inch rulers to measure their assigned items and record the measurements on the page. Point out to students that for the first item they will first estimate and measure in links and then measure in inches. For the second item they will first estimate and measure in inches, and then measure in links.
