Subtraction with Base-Ten Pieces

• Assign the Matching Numbers Homework Masters after
  Part 1 of the lesson. Students identify which sets of base-ten pieces represent the same number, write number sentences, and practice writing numbers in expanded form.
• Assign DPP items K–N. In DPP item K students practice solving multidigit addition problems. DPP item N asks students to solve addition problems in two ways.

Math Facts. In DPP item L students practice using strategies that apply the properties of addition with fact families for the facts in Group A. DPP item M asks students to relate math facts to subtraction with tens and hundreds.
