TIMS Bit

The Triangle Flash Cards for the 2s and 3s are in the Teacher Guide. Students use the Triangle Flash Cards to develop fluency with the multiplication facts.

Students circle the facts they know well on the Multiplication Facts I Know charts (from Unit 8). Remind them if they know a fact, they also know its turn-around fact. Home Practice Part 1 reminds students to take home the list of facts they need to study with their flash cards.

Ongoing Assessment

Have students record their progress learning the multiplication facts for the 2s and 3s on their Multiplication Facts I Know charts [E11].

See the Letter Home for suggestions for targeted practice.

A. Triangle Flash Cards: 2s and 3s

With a partner, use your Multiplication Flash Cards to quiz each other on the multiplication facts for the 2s and 3s. One partner covers the corner containing the highest number. This number will be the product. The second person multiplies the two uncovered numbers.

Separate the used cards into three piles: Facts I Know Quickly, Facts I Can Figure Out, and Facts I Need to Learn. Practice the last two piles again and make a list of facts you need to practice at home for homework.

Circle the facts you know quickly on your Multiplication Facts I Know chart.
