Assign the Homework section. Question 3 asks students to measure the hand lengths of friends and members of their families, record the data in a table, and find the median hand length. This activity will help establish the context of the story The Four Servants they will read in Lesson 4.
Assign DPP items I–L. DPP Bits I and K review telling time and calculating elapsed time. Task J provides practice with identify variables and naming values. Task L provides practice solving word problems. The students must analyze the problems and determine what operations to use. Solving the problems may require repeated addition, skip counting, multiplication, or subtraction.
