  1. 37.5 minutes; Students might use equal ratios:
    15 minutes/2 miles = 37.5 minutes/5 miles   or
    15 minutes/2 miles = 7.5 minutes/1 mile  ;
    7.5 × 5 = 37.5 minutes

B. Riding Bicycles

  1. Jerome and John rode their bicycles at the same speed. It took Jerome 15 minutes to ride 2 miles. How long did it take John to ride 5 miles?
  2. Make a graph that shows the distance Jerome and John traveled and the time it took. Put time on the horizontal axis and distance on the vertical axis. (Hint: Put a point on the graph that represents the time and distance when they start. What distance have they traveled at 0 seconds?)
