TIMS Challenge

Use this DPP item to practice the multiplication facts for the 5s and 10s.

  1. Possible response: The rule for the second table is to multiply by 50, and 50 is 10 × 5, so the output numbers in the second table are 10 times more than the output numbers in the first table. The input numbers are the same in both tables.
  2. Possible response: The input numbers for both tables are the same, but the output numbers in the second table are all 10 times more than the output numbers in the first table. The rule for the first table is multiply by 10 and in the second table it is multiply by 100. 100 is the same as 10 × 10.
