TIMS Task

Use this DPP Item to solve problems using the multiplication facts for the 5s and 10s.

  1. $1.15;

    9 × 5 cents = 45 cents

    7 × 10 cents = 70 cents

    45 cents + 70 cents = 115 cents or $1.15
  2. 3 × 5 = 15 dimes or $1.50
  3. 7 × 5 = 35 beads

P. How Much and How Many?

  1. Moe spent 9 nickels and 7 dimes to buy ice cream. How much money did he spend? Show or tell how you found your answer.
  2. Joe has 5 pockets on his clothes. Each pocket has 3 dimes. How many dimes does Joe have? How much money does he have?
  3. Flo has 7 braids in her hair. Each braid has 5 beads. How many beads are in Flo's hair? Write a number sentence.
