Workshop: Multiplication Methods

Homework and Practice

  • Assign any unfinished problems students selected from the Workshop Menu.
  • Ask students to play three rounds of the Multiplication Digits Game in the Student Activity Book at home with a family member.
  • Assign Home Practice Parts 3–7. In Part 3, students are asked to write numbers that are a little smaller and a little larger than a given number. Part 4 reviews divisibility rules. Part 5 provides addition and subtraction practice. Part 6 provides practice using mental math to solve problems with multiples of 10 and 100. Part 7 provides opportunities to solve multiplication problems using the rectangle, partial products, or expanded-form methods.
  • Assign DPP items I–J. Students practice estimating products in Bit I and analyze a 2200-year-old geometry puzzle in Task J.

Math Facts. Remind students to study their division facts and related multiplication facts for the last six facts using their Triangle Flash Cards. Inform students when DPP Bit M Fact Family Quiz: Last Six Facts will be given.
