Daily Practice and Problems

Teacher Notes
X

Have a 45-link chain organized into groups of five from Lessons 1 and 2 available. Ask students to show how to skip count on the chain to solve the problems. Then ask students to do the problems again but with the class number line.

  1. 40 + 3 = 43; 43 links
  2. 25 + 4 = 29; 29 links

J. I Need More Links

  1. Sara's 40-link chain was not long enough to measure a shelf. She added 3 more links to her chain to reach the end of the shelf. How long is the shelf?
  2. Michael and Liz measured the length of a bulletin board. They skip counted by fives to 25. Then they counted 4 more links. How long is the bulletin board?
  3. Show how to use a number line to solve Questions 1 and 2.
