Number Sentences for Tile Designs

Post students’ designs on a bulletin board. Pass out index cards to students. Ask students to write a number sentence on the index card that describes a design chosen from the bulletin board. Students then exchange index cards and try to find a design that fits the number sentence. They will see that a number sentence may describe more than one design. Have students post the sentence below any design that depicts the sentence on the card.
