After students have completed the Two Solutions
page in the Student Activity Book, display and direct
their attention to the Self-Check: Checklist on the
Two Solutions page to review their work. The checklist
focuses on choosing good tools [MPE2], checking
for reasonableness [MPE3], and using labels
[MPE6]. Use the display to explain how to use the
checklist.
- The purpose of the checklist is to help you check
your work and make sure you turn in your best
work.
Read and discuss each of the Expectations and ask
students to think about what they did as they solved
the problem.
- For each Expectation, check under the “yes” column
if you think you did what the statement says
to do. If not, check “no” and go back to your work
and make any necessary changes.
Some students will be concerned about checking “no” for
some of the Expectations. Explain that the checklist helps
them understand what their best work should include and
how to improve their work. As students gain experience with
the Expectations outlined in the checklist, they will become
more comfortable applying it to their work and to the work of
other students.
