• Assign the questions in the Homework section of the Newswire pages in the Student Guide. Students will need the Place Value Chart in the Student Activity Book to order the numbers listed in the table. Students may continue to search at home for numbers in the news to contribute to the newswire.
• Assign DPP items C–D. Bit C requires students to determine the value of n in a number sentence.
• In Challenge D, students use pennies, nickels, and dimes to find all the combinations of coins to equal 22¢ and 36¢. This item can serve as a Problem of the Week.

Math Facts. Remind students to study math facts at home. They should use their list of multiplication facts they need to study and flash cards to study for the Multiplication Facts Inventory Test in Lesson 8. Students should use the Triangle Flash Cards: 5s and 10s to study the division facts for these two groups.
