This Workshop lesson provides opportunities for students to practice identifying and finding multiples of number. Students design game boards for a game where it is advantageous to find common multiples.

Supplies for Students

  • clear plastic spinner or pencil and paper clip
  • 15 beans or other small markers

Materials for the Teacher

Materials Preparation

Spinners. If you do not have clear plastic spinners, students can use paper clips and pencils. Straighten one end of the paper clip and place the pencil through the curved end. Put the point of the pencil on the center of the spinner and spin the paper clip around the pencil, using the straightened end as the pointer. See Figure 1.
