Daily Practice and Problems

Teacher Notes

Encourage students to use ten frames and apply their knowledge of sums of ten to determine whether each is more than, less than, or equal to 10. Discuss strategies used such as counting on, using a ten, and making a ten. Students will need connecting cubes readily available.

       Solve

  1. 3 + 4 =  7
  2. 8 + 7 = 15
  3. 3 + 7 = 10
  4. 4 + 5 =  9
  5. 4 + 4 =  8
  6. 10 + 9 = 19
    Predict

  1. 3 + 4 10
  2. 8 + 7 10
  3. 3 + 7 10
  4. 4 + 5 10
  5. 4 + 4 10
  6. 10 + 9 10

  1. Possible response:

  7 + 3   + 1 = 7 + 4

10 + 1 = 7 + 4

11 = 7 + 4

K. More, Less, or Equal

Predict if the sum is more than, less than, or equal to 10. Use <, >, or =. Then solve the problem.

       Solve

    3 + 4 =

    8 + 7 =

    3 + 7 =

    4 + 5 =

    4 + 4 =

    10 + 9 =

    Predict

  1. 3 + 4 10
  2. 8 + 7 10
  3. 3 + 7 10
  4. 4 + 5 10
  5. 4 + 4 10
  6. 10 + 9 10

  1. Show or tell how to solve 4 + 7.
