Students compare and order numbers with base-ten pieces and on a number line. They describe numbers using less than, greater than, and equal to. They write number sentences with the <, >, and = symbols.

Materials Preparation

Prepare Sets of Number Representation Cards. Copy and cut apart sets of the Number Representation Cards Masters for each pair of students and place them in an envelope or resealable bag. Students will use these cards in this lesson and in Lesson 7. You may want to copy these cards on heavier paper.

Prepare a Display Set of the Number Representation Cards. Copy and cut apart a set of the Number Representation Cards Masters for display use. These cards will be used to demonstrate how to play Number Order and for other comparing and ordering activities.
