Homework and Practice

  • Students can complete any of the questions in the Student Activity Book at home.
  • Assign Parts 1 and 2 of the Home Practice. Home Practice Part 2 provides practice with multidigit operations.
  • Assign DPP items A–D. DPP Bit C provides practice with reading a table and calculating time.
  • Challenge D can serve as the Problem of the Week. It provides practice with determining fractional parts and computing money.

Problem of the Week. Post DPP Challenge D so it is visible to the whole class. Students can work throughout the week on the problem. Ask them to be aware of the strategies they develop as they work. At the end of the week, have students share their strategies in a class discussion.

Math Facts. DPP Bit A and Home Practice Part 1 remind students to use the Triangle Flash Cards to self-check and practice the multiplication facts for the last six facts. Task B requires writing a story for one of the last six facts.
