Developing the Lesson

Part 2. Reviewing Student Work

Give each student pair one of the student work samples you prepared (see Materials Preparation) and ask them to remove the Professor Peabody Invents a Ball Feedback Box page from the Student Activity Book. Ask student pairs to review the student work sample you have given them and provide feedback on the Feedback Box. Select one pair of students to display and share the student work they reviewed along with their feedback. Figures 2–7 show sample sets of work and sample feedback notes for three different students to help you facilitate this discussion. Masters for display are also available for the student work in these figures.

  • How did [student name] solve Professor Peabody's problems?
  • Did [student name] use a graph? Data table?
  • Tell how [student name] checked if [his or her] answer was reasonable.
  • What feedback did you provide [student name]?
  • Based on [student name]'s work, what changes would you make to your solution?
