First arrange eight cubes in a random pattern on a display. Display the cubes in a flash for students by turning the display on and then off. Repeat after arranging the eight cubes into a pattern (either a domino pattern or two rows of four). Discuss which estimate was easier to make and why.

Repeat with other numbers of cubes that are either more than or less than ten.
