Ask students to share their moves on the 200 Chart. For example, in Question D, a student may move to the row above, from 43 to 33 and then move over one space to the right. The number sentence that describes these two movements is, 43 − 10 + 1 = 34.

  1. Possible response:
    3 + 10 = 13;
    3 + 7 + 3 = 13
  2. Possible response:
    3 + 10 + 3 = 16; 3 + 7 + 6 = 16
  3. Possible response:
    43 − 10 = 33
  4. Possible response:
    43 − 10 + 1 = 34
